PELLA, LAGO D'ORTA

pella beach.jpg

With its car-free lakeside promenade and picturesque pastel-shaded buildings, the small town of Pella, reachable by car or by public boat from Orta, has a wonderful Mediterranean vibe.

You have to search them out but amongst all the private lakefront properties, the area also boasts several tiny public beaches dotting the shoreline.

If you’re looking for excellent underwater visibility and clear crystalline waters - a gorgeous shade of turquoise/aquamarine on sunny days - a great spot is the area just south of town.

There are even dollops of course white sand forming occasional micro-beaches. If you don’t mind company, you can also sprawl out on one of the quaint wooden landing stages lining the coastline near Pella. Just be sure to arrive early to grab a space.

Parking

There is usually plenty of parking at the entrance to town.
