LIDO DI GOZZANO, lAGO D'ORTA
Right down at the southern tip of Lago Orta is Orta’s largest beach area. Gozzano Lido, also known as Buccione, ticks all the right boxes and makes a wonderful, relaxing all day-destination.
The beach's signature landmark is an old 1954 diving board platform which has recently been restored to its former glory, with one board at 3 metres and the other at 5 metres. Its odd claim to fame is that this is Italy’s highest lake diving board.
A hybrid between a classic artificial beach with plenty of added sand, umbrellas, sun-chairs and amenities and a beautiful natural beach, the place is immaculately looked after. Entrance is free but you pay to use the facilities.
There is also a fine bar/restaurant with comfortable chairs. Some locals prefer to while away the afternoon lounging by the gorgeous wooden ferry boat jetty outside the official Lido, dangling their feet in the warm lake waters.
